Unlock Everything is my entry for round 45 of Ludum Dare. It's a love letter to Mega Man, with a twist! All content for the game was made entirely within the 48 hour timeframe (with the exception of fonts).

Move - Left Arrow and Right Arrow
Jump - Shift, X, or Up Arrow

v2.02 (Post-Compo)
- Fixed numerous bugs (wall sticking, bad scene transitions, etc)
  These bugs were introduced by moving to a new (apparently breaking) version of Godot
- Fixed bug that skipped the intro cutscenes for level 1
- Decreased the health of cannons from 10 to 6
- Decreased the health of the path-based enemies from 5 to 4
- Added a different "tink" sound effect when shooting invincible spike traps
- Implemented a terminal falling velocity limit
- Add commonly-suggested "You unlocked the door" joke for level 2
- Unlocks are now saved across game sessions
- Added a "Reset Game Data" option if you want to unlock everything again
- Added new "Time Attack" mode for speedrunners:  Time Attack mode skips all cutscenes and popups and enables an in-game timer display  The timer ticks on each physics frame and pauses on screen/level transitions  The current set of splits and total time will be displayed after each level
- Added some "cheat codes" for speedrunners:  Left + Right + Tab + 'T' on main menu unlocks Time Attack mode  Left + Right + Tab + 'R' during Time Attack instantly exits to Time Attack menu

- Switch binding for spacebar to be shoot instead of jump
- Slight tweaks to a screen in level 3
- Added additional keybindings
- Fix dropped shoot inputs before picking up autofire
- Fixed a silly export mistake that caused level 2 to start on the wrong screen
- Added some additional checks to try and prevent soft-locks
- Adjust a screen in level 1 so you won't die immediately if you hold right on respawn
- Fixed a bug where you can trigger the level 1 end multiple times
- Delete a few pixels from the boss doors to indicate they're unlocked
- Fix rare single pixel camera hitch on screen transition
- Fix very minor tileset issues
- Added some checks to try and prevent a rare soft-lock on death
- Fixed a bug where sawblades would keep moving during transitions (and kill you)
- Disable printing to stdout and stderr
- Slightly adjusted metal blade speeds
- Added song titles and liner notes to the jukebox screen
- Use highlighted text to indicate what song is playing on the jukebox screen
- Very minor tweak to one screen in level 3
- Toggled a setting that should make pixels slightly sharper on retina screens
- Added a fix for screen transitions sometimes not triggering during screen shakes
- Rebalanced the Metal Man fight a bunch to make it more forgiving but still  not just brute-forcable
- Fixed a funny bug where Metal Man's spinning blade could be left over
- Removed a duplicated object that accidentally got left in
- Added version number in the corner of the menu screen
- Fixed being able to spam certain menu commands
- First release!

I love how many mechanics this game has I couldn't walk a step without unlocking something new!

But now for real I really liked the game I thought it was very funny and amusing,  it had good music and was impressively good for the amount of time you had to work on it. overall it had a very strong mega man vibe to it that I really liked and I hope to see more from you in the feature.

in short it was very charming and I really enjoyed playing it, thank you for making this.

The wall stick really made the gameplay hard to finish, but its a great great game! Love the vibes and the idea!

3rd stage had the bowser's castle music stuck in my head while playing it lol

It's fun! Sometimes when I jump I stick to the wall which didn't help a lot but otherwise it was fun and the boss was super difficult so beating it was rewarding

Fun game. I love the Megaman theme. Music and art are good. Enemy designs are good. Walls are sticky, which makes platforming irritating. Enemy timing is a little weird. Too short and especially with that cliff hanger.

This has been fixed in v2.02.

i wonder what is the minimum amount of unlocks needed to beat the game

You can skip the following unlocks:

- Menu Music
- Menu Graphic
- Menu Particles
- Health (meaning, one hit kills you always)
- Background Art
- Buster Ammo
- Autofire
- Health recharge (not that it does anything anyways since your max health is 2)

Took me a while to beat the boss but I love it!!

Um, I think the current post-compo build is booting straight into time trials mode. There's no dialogue, and it skips straight to the move right subroutine.

Hi there!  I've just tried running the itch.io build and wasn't able to reproduce this behavior.  Perhaps you could try again and/or provide more details for reproducing it?

The first cutscene, with Dr 鈮圠ight plays just fine on my side. However, none of Libra's chime-ins worked at all. And it skipped that whole part at the beginning, where you can't move. It happened before I could even play the game! That "time trials" idea was just speculation. When I got to world 2, Libra's dialogue worked normally.

Also, do health pickups exist in this game? I forget.

TLDR: Stage 1 cutscenes fail for no reason.

Re: health pickups, there are no "regular/random" health pickups.  Besides the initial health upgrade at the end of level 1, there's a health refill before the boss room, but that's it.

Great game love the concept! Made me stick to the end.

Started off as a neat platformer teat take on that one "unlock everything" Kongregate game,  but then you... don't really unlock much. 

I don't trust this Dr. Dark guy.....

Pretty sweet game. Jumping feels good and the buster cannon's satisfying. Sweet tunes, too.

I went and paid 5 bucks for the soundtrack cause you deserve it! This was a lovely little slice of entertainment and you've earned yourself a fan!

So cool! I'm so happy, finally a game where you don't have to redo a cut scene if you die!

I loved the 3rd level, because I love the Metal Man music level, and that remix was really nice! I'm looking forward for the full game! =)
